I,m enquiring about how to find out, what the data transfer rate of a network is, using a router.

you mean the possible transfer rate, or the current? If you want the current, check out getting mrtg. It goes on a pc, and queries the router.

It's the actual transfer rate (throughput) of data.
MadChef informed me of ttcp.

I'll have a look at the mrtg. Can you supply a link for us.
