| Your Cisco 2600 route must select between two IP routes:
a. metric=1110, source=IGRP
b. metric=10, source=RIP
1. Which route will it select, (a) or (b)?
2. Why will it select that route?
3. How often does that protocol send periodic updates?
-- Good Luck! --
Cheers,
Ron

| Nice, I'll get to work on that one. Thanks for the QOD! | |

| It's questions like this one that often get reported as being poorly worded and vague by a test taker, but that's not true. It's a great question because it ensures you understand several things about route selection in order to get the correct answer.
Great question

| OK. This feels like a 'trick' question.
1. A
2. IGRP uses bandwidth as it's primary metric. RIP only uses hop count. So, the 10 is 10 hops, right? Kind of far.
3. RIP = 60 seconds, IGRP = 90.
How did I do?

| Sup,
I think its
IGRP coz,
1)90 sec updates,
2)CISCOs proprietry protocol,
3)Admin dist is relatively ok (i guess),
4)can use Bandwidth /Delay (default) to calc the best path,
5)uses Holddowns,SplitHorizon and PoisonReverseUpdates to avoid routing loops and provide more control.
6) .... ... .. .
enuf said hope im right,
aiight ,
