| hi guys need some help!!
Well we have to setup remote access on a Cisco 2610 Router.I have never worked with a cisco router as yet. I need to know what is needed to be done to sucessfully configure it. Well here is the details as much as i know... There is one domain lets say DOMAIN and there are two other networks using the router as a gateway to connect to our network. The router has a 8 port analog modem network module. I need to configure about 8 users to dial in to router and access the existing network. I read about something called the Fast Step Software by Cisco for configuring, i was wondering if it will allow us to configure the modem, security and users through the fast step software. Or do i have to hook up console or through hyperterminal login and enable ppp etc on the interfaces manually and add users manually through username/password commands. Is there any other software that allows us to configure through a graphical interface?
If you guys need any other details tell me..

| well...
start here.
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/471/index.shtml
info on the module
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/471/wics.html
search on cisco site and/or go buy the bcran book real quick...
unfortunately, i don't deal with this stuff so my bcran study, except isdn, was mostly theory...
fast step is for like the 800 routers, can't use that. all it take is a search on cisco for *fast step* to confirm it...
basically... as i see it, you need to do lots of study yourself on this to make sure it work...
anyway, go buy the book, search on cisco for things liek dial access, dial in, modem etc whatever come into mind and study/read b4 your boss find out you can't do it... | |

| i checked out cisco site and found a cool tool for managing and configuring called the Cisco config maker v 2.6. I tried it out on a 1700 and it seemed to load all configurations from the IOS and then we can modify and reload. I guess i 'm going to use this tool at the site. However i did also find a couple of documetns on the cisco site.
I typed NM-AM at the search and got what i wanted.
Thanks for ur help mikop |
