What's the answers, I'm planning to take it next week

| well, still on question 3, try to check Sybex CCNA 640-507 text, page 44, chapter 1, subtitle "console connection". it is glaring from there that the answer is ROLLOVER CABLE.
i think this should be OK by you, bffatima.

The first question is a trick question sort of. The answer would be NIC. This is located on the host and it does perform some layer 2 functions such as MAC addressing.
The Third question's answer is NOT Rollover as some people believe. The question clearly states which ETHERNET CABLE and also mentions the word TELNET. A rollover cable to console port is no good here as that has nothing to do with telnet.

| I thought NIC is layer 1 device. switch is the correct answer. | |

NICs are considered Layer 2 devices.

| 1 qn. Does roll-over cable consider as ethernet cable too? | |
| makan007 2002-05-25, 5:19 am |
| Yeah. Awesome result. Give that man a can of tiger beer. | |

| answers are :
Q1. NIC - without the NIC any pc/host can not be connected to any lan devices (hubs, switches, even routers.
Q2. show frame-relay pvc
show frame-relay map
Q3. crossover - since question asked for an ethernet cable, which i presume is directly connected to an ethernet interface.
note though : you can telnet other routers via console port, in this case a rollover cable, otherwise known as a console cable, is used. |
