Upgrading router IOS by FTP?

| Hi all,
Have you guys tried upgrading the router IOS by FTP instead of TFTP? I just failed to find the right info from the cisco site..
Is that I simply set up a ftp server and create a client session with username+password will do? If so how I can input the username and password under the router config mode, or there is other workaround out there?
TIA,

| I've always used TFTP, simple to setup and reliable (though not in the IP sense!).
Why do you need FTP, I believe TFTP is the only way (or xmodem over a console?). If it's simply that you don't have a TFTP server theyre freely available. Cisco have one, or even better is 3Com which also comes with a syslog server. Just do a search on the 3com website. |
