I am taking the CCNA 640-607 test in May and I'm trying to cram really hard for it. My question is to those who have taken the exam, the old one or the new one. What kind of subnetting questions do they ask on the test. ex. is it a simple question like find the broadcast address or range, or is it more complecated than that? Thanks

Don't take the exam if you don't understand subnetting, here's a great link for you www.learntosubnet.com www.mcsefreak.com

Thanks for the links mate. I know how to subnet fluently, I just wanted to know what the complexity of the questions on subnetting are. Thanks.

Rite dude! I completed the 607 exam today and here is the jist on what they quizzed me on:

- what is the broadcast?
- what is the host range for ra ra ra?
- what is the subnet for say at least 16 networks with 16 hosts per network?
- some qu's on a network diagram asking why a host cannot access a server? check the subnetting per network and this reveals that the server has an incorrect address for that subnet etc stuff like that!
- whats the maximum number of subnets for a given subnet mask?

ok dude! basically know yer subnetting....this should come as second nature after a while....and therefore my main area of focus was on using the correct command to view interface/protocol/access-list/troubleshooting stuff!!! they seem to ask you to pick '2 commands' that will give you ra ra ra details? it can be tricky and devilish when it makes u think 'ah it could be that, but im sure it this' scenario.....im waffling!
but also just generally cover all areas in good detail....from this mornings exam....subnetting was a relief!!!!

keep plugging away! and enjoy!
