I'm looking to buy me a fairly inexpensive router, just wondering which one is recommended for someone looking to use it as a study tool for the CCNA exam. With possible usage in future cisco exams.
Thanks

any 25xx router is great. 1x2501 is all you need for ccna study and they are great foundation for future lab setup. You should be able to find these on ebay etc for $350ish.
note. should have 16/16 ram/flash and 12.x IOS loaded

They just had 4 2501 routers sell for 202, 152, 105, and 146.
Sucks that I missed the bidding on all of them they went for a steal

Well you just have to wait a few weeks for the good deals to roll through. those pricces you listed were pretty nice. I went withthe 2524 so that I could use it for later studying in CCNP. wound up with 2 2524s + cards and a 2511 all work great and spent under 600 for the whole thing. So you just have to be patient for the right price to roll through. I actually waited 31/2 weeks for all that to show up.

I will probably add some more routers once I get a more stable job, contrat work kills me.
I want to get a 2501 and maybe a 2515 to get pratice on some token ring stuff or get a wireless one to play with

Hold off on the token ring router. For now all you need that for are the CCIE exams and rumor is Cisco will drop token ring from the Lab by the time you get ready for it.

Surely they won't drop token ring altogether from the lab. More than likely they'll drop the configuration of the token ring switch. If they drop token ring there's less of a point to have DLSw on the lab and there's no way they can drop that. Token ring is too cool to drop.
