| If any of you are relying on the Sybex CCNA Study Guide be sure that you are aware that the tests contained on the disk have several errors.
Areas that contain the wrong answers are VLAN's, Frame Relay and access lists that I have found so far.
Sybex's answer to the problem is to print out their list of corrections contained on another web page and keep it next to you when you are taking the tests.
I'm sure Prometric will allow you the same latitude.

| I heard that the SYBEX book is a very good resource. Isn't the CISCOPRESS book an even better buy? | |

Note that I have only taken the CCNA. But I read several Cisco books, and I do think that they are the best source of info for the cisco tests. Sybex is full of mistakes and typos. That really turns me off. Make sure to go their website and download their errata if you do use the Sybex books...

| After just reading the Cisco Press and the Sybex book I like them both.. The Cisco Press does have much more information but the Sybex book focuses more on the exam and is better if you don't have alot of time... I'm currently reading the CCNA Exam Cram and I like it very much.. I'm taking my test in two weeks.. | |

As always, I recommend that you go to your local bookstore and pick up a couple of books to see if you like the author's style, the book layout, etc... and make up your own mind according to your set of standards. But for my money, I have to say that I will be buying exclusively Cisco Press books as my main source of information.

| You want to know my place of places for information besides this forum and all of us helping one another with questions and situations.
My store is Barnes & Noble in NJ. Everyone knows me in that store and knows that when i go there i go there t ostudy and lock myself out mentally from everything else in my life. LOL. At least I have their support and respect also. haha

| call me old fashioned... I still use the library for that
I like my local BN as well, especially their bargain section. With the amount of books I buy, I cannot afford to buy all my books at retail value...

| I have read both Cisco and Sybex and it is good to get two different perspectives. The Cisco books go more in depth and is useful if you really want to know your stuff not just pass the exam. The Sybex is definately geared towards passing the exam. The choice is really up to you. |
