Hello folks.

I have purchased Tod lammel's CCNA 2.0 book and also a Virtual e-trainer LAB cd with Sims.

What cisco routers/switches doyou recommend for hands-on practice at home?

I have heard about 2500 series and catalyst 1900 series.

Any recommendations and also how I can get them for a cheap price? I have a 10/100 Bate-T LAN at home now with a hub

=========

I've seen this Switch on ebay just now. Is this a good one that goes with the 1900 commands at the end of the book?

I think to pass the CCNA, if you use the e-trainer simulator a lot and keep in mind when you see the {config} or {config-if} and {config-router} commands then you really don't need to purchase the actual thing. You do need to read the book that came with the simulator though, especially with the 1900 switch. The main thing in the CCNA exam is to remember if you use the exec mode or config mode or interface mode and everything about a 1900 switch.

I agree, the E-trainer should do the trick for the CCNA, but CCNP you might wanna buy a router, though it never hurts to have one for the CCNA also.

You can use Cisco 2500 or 2600 series.

If you are alone and have the $$$

get
2 cisco 2501 Router
1 cisco 2514 Router
1 cisco 1900 switch

You will be able to do Access-Lists
Rip
IGRP
EIGRP
Vlans
IS-IS !

Look in Ebay or other places

May be One 2503 to do ISDN

Good Luck!
