I have a few questions related to preparation for CCNA # 507:

1. I purchased Exam Essentials 5.5 a long time ago, is their CCNA test accurate or should I upgrade to Exam Essentials 6.0?
2. I have limited "hands on" access to Cisco routers (little IDSL and SDSL 80X series), are there any good sims out there that I should be aware of? I also have Todd Lammle's CCNA Study Guide and the software that came with it.

Thanks in advance,
Adrian

Todd's book is enough for the CCNA, you can buy Todd's simulator that should give you a simulated experience, or you can get one or two 1600 model from e-bay they are really cheap there, that should give you a wonderful experience with the IOS, cabling, and trouble shooting.
Good luck

Todd Lamlee's book and Boson are waht you need. EE 6 is pretty good I've heard, haven't heard much about 5.5

Does anyone know if the CCNA prep questions have changed from EE 5.5 to 6.0? I don't want to waste my money if it's the same test.

I see there are some 1600 routers on ebay. i havent started studying yet for the ccna, besides takin my Net+ test, but is the OS for the 1600 router the same as what is out today? Or...can you update it??
Sorry if I am not explaining my self enough....

Id like to start playing with the OS on routers to prepare for the test, with a book of course. I'd hate to buy a 1600 if I couldnt update the OS enough to bring it up to something similiar to what the test will be dealing with...

Email me if you guys need me to clarify...
thanks, tj

That depends on the flash memeory installed on the router you buy, most of them have 11.x versions in a 4 MB flash, which I think is fine for the ccna (IMHO), but if you want to upgrade you need to buy a biger flash AND the feature pack for about $20 (it includes different IOS versions, RSL(Router Software Loader), and TFTP server software)that way you are set to go and play around with flashing a flash memeory to update the IOS, backing up to a tftp server and restoring, all that no simulator will give you, all that could be for a very cheap price and you will be "been there done that" .

I highly recommend you go to www.selftestsoftware.com &/or www.techskills.com for test material, I passed yesterday with a 956 1st time. I may be speaking out of turn here but if you go to www.musiccity.com download the morpheus applet and then download routersim 2.0 or 3.0 (free with crack) that should be more than you need to pass the test.
The test material is almost word for word the test.
