Get the study guide by Todd Lammele CCNA and alternatively the Cisco press CCNA study guide and start from chapters 1 all through. Also do the practicals at the end until you're done. Best of luck in your endeavours.

hello, I'm fairly new to the world of cisco.. I remember reading on their site about differnt career paths.. and this forum.. "WAN Switching" would seem to suggest there are different CCNA exams.. would someone please clarify this?

The WAN Switching certification was geared towards switches used by large telephone companies (Stratacom, Axis). The WAN switching career certifications were recently retired. (The exam may still be offered - not sure.)

You might also hear about the CCNA 1.0 640-507 exam - that's also retired.

The vast majority of people go for the standard CCNA 2.0 640-507 exam.
