| Hi yalls,
need some of the Cisco Experts to help me out here.. Does anybody knows if this is a good router or not.. i need some hands on experience with routers and "router sims" just won't cut it with me... need your advice.. thanx..

| 2524 is modular, so depends.
if you have a choice, as a first router I would say keep it simple, 2501, workhorse of any lab.

| thanks for the info... if i get the 2501.. what eles do i need to start a lab.. as you can tell i'm new to this and really want to go for my CCNA and so on.. i'm looking at 2501 on ebay and they run for about $300 bucks.. that's about my budget range... | |

| hmmm....
pricewise I haven't check ebay much lately but I just used the advance search for completed item and saw 1601 going for 100-150 ish so that may better suit your price target...
it all really depend on what you want to do... a lab? <-would require more than 1 router. or just a single router so you can perform some action and see feedback live?
but it seem like you already have a router sim (so you can do connectivity scenarios) and just want some real handon, so that a 1601 for 100-150 bucks may be a good choice as you don't really need to worry about other stuff.
edit: oh I should say, sit on it till tommorrow and see what others have to say. 2nd 3rd opinions is always good.

| hey you've been very helpful... so two 2501 would do the trick ya?? 300 is not really my budget i was just trying to get a feel for how much this whole thing cost.. | |

| I agree with mikop, the 2501 is the best training router. Now that they have reached end of sale they may be very cheap to find used. | |

| In case you are still thinking, go with 2. I had just one for a little bit, and I got to know the cli, but I was damn bored. Two is the way to get your monies worth. On a side note, if you get one with like ios 12 and the other one with like 10.3, you should be able to learn almost as much(minus stuff like CDP) and save a little money | |
