You have to boot the device, enter the setup mode, change the registry setting to load the running configuration first, then enable a new password, save the running configuration as the startup configuration, change the registry setting back to load the start up configuration first, then reboot.

I believe that there are probably many step-by-step tutorials on the web somewhere or in basically any CCNA study guide. Go to a search engine and type in “Cisco Router Password Recovery “ and see what you get back.
