show modemcap or something similar to that should show you the codes, I havent used that command in a few weeks, but that should be right. If you set it to auto configure, the modem should automaticly be detected. Im am assuming its not being detected otherwise it should already have that information, or mabey Im just a little rusty, anyhow just make sure you have the corect pinning going from the router to the modem, I had a problem with that, the site I went to gave me the wrong order, took me like 2 hours to get it right.

I've never been able to get a US Robotics 56k modem to work using discovery; of course, I may just be a putz. I always autoconfigure them as usr_sportster but usr_courier seems to work as well.

Another question,When I change the speed of line use command "speed 115200(default speed is 9600?),the client can't dial in.But in speed 9600,it works.why?

This is really just a random guess, but whats the speed of the aux port. Im just thinking in relation to the console port, how the default speed is 9600.

115200 usually just repsesents the baud rate

i believe i used 115200 when using an octopus
asynch cable connected to the modem.

try changing the speed of the aux port.

When you change the speed,Do you must re-initiate the modem? And I want to know which conditions the modem would be initiated?such as turn off then on the modem.

Sorry dude, I don't have an answer. I just tried it using one of my async lines on my 2511, with an octal cable, and it worked fine.
