| Finally took this sucker and nailed it (987). Kudos to me... blah blah blah...
Anyways this is my technique for learning.
Firstly bear in mind that I do use Cisco routers and switches as well as Nortel switches as part of my job.
I attended, at my employers expense, the ICND course. With this course I got ample study materials including Sybex Deluxe edition which comes with RouterSim 3.1. Although the RouterSim is OK it does lack a little depth when you start getting freaky and trying different things.
I then went back through all the labs etc using real hardware which I borrowed from my employer. This was oh so much better as they even set up some ISDN lines for us to train on.
To touch it off a couple of days before the exam I used Exam Essentials 6.0 to get into testing mode. I definately disagreed with some of the answers in those practise tests and anything that I was unsure of I went over again to hone skills in those areas.
What I am getting at here is that nothing really beats having the real thing but I am sure that all of you know this already.
The exam was refreshing. I had 50 questions and only about 10(max) had I seen before. There are a couple of sims as well which were pretty much a cake walk. The problems were simple ones.
Anyway I hope my little seminar has enlightened some of you. Hope to see some of you next year in the CCNP forums. |
