Damn, I am upset, I spend 2 months studing and have had almost a year experience with cisco IOS. I passed with (get this) 84.9%
I was releived but either I had outdated material or they added a whole bunch of new questions.

I used: Sybex SE, Transcenders w/update, and Boson

<<My (Bad <--1-10--> Great) rating on each>>

Sybex) I give 5 --> Good reading NOT thorough enough.

Transenders) I give 6--> OK questions, great explanations as usual. Too price NOT worth it for this test.

Boson) I give 6.5--> closest to the test questions, but not really, if you know what I mean. Terible explanations. From what I found they were the better of them all.

NONE were that good.

Sybex is the most complete study guide there is for the CCNA exam. If you read it from cover to cover and didnt understand it or forgot alot of the material thats not Sybex's fault. This and the Virtual Test Center is all you need to pass the exam. If you cant pass the exam after you study with these then its you not the BOOK.....

Whatever wiz kid, I read it twice and took the test, I think I would know! The Cisco Companion Guide was way more thorough, just lame reading. Don't get me wrong Todd wrote a good book. I would say 50% of the test was not in the book. Some people like to be updated on what the test was like. I gave my opinion, if you don't like it there's no need to criticize. Second, wiz boy I haven't got under a 90% on any other tests I took and I usally study less. Third, I did Pass the test Remember in the post right before your when I said "I passed."(pay attention) This is the worst I have done and I feel bad enough as it is, so the next time I want your opinion Cheesewiz, I'll let you know. Congrats mate....a pass is a pass is a pass after all.

I am currently studying for this one using course materials, Sybex book, Sybex e-lab, Learnkey CD, ICND coursebook, Internetworking Technologies Handbook and CCNA Certification guide by cisco, do you think it will be enough? (I've been through the Sybex, cisco press and ICND books three times each)

I like that CHEEZWIZ!!! My comments were not meant as a putdown to you. I see that your quick to slander others for their opinion though. I am just saying that why does everyone blame their mistakes or failures on the books or other study materials. Its not the books fault you didnt do that well or for others if they didnt pass then its not the books fault it theirs. By the way I did see that you passed....but by the skin of your teeth. You could study for years and if you just dont get it or understand it then it doesnt matter how much you study, but here again its not the books or other study materials fault. Bottom line is what works for one to pass an exam may not work for others....

Andy,

Sorry I don't know what the ICND coursebook is, but if you know the cisco comparsion guide well and the Sybex book together then alls you need is confidence. Go in and take the test as soon as you think you have a good grasp on those materials. Also I would recommend, and I'm sure your you know if you have taken MCSE2000 tests, to take as many practice tests as you can get your hands on.
I'm sure you'll do well. It's not that difficult, I'm not sure why I did so bad?
