terminator between switch & host

| This is not a CCNA exam question, but I thought I might find the answer in this forum.
I went to a grade school's PC lab, they got this set up that I am not very familiar with.
they got couple switch mounted to the wall, and cables connect to about 30 PCs in that lab, but what's weird that is they use "terminator" between the PC & the switch. I never saw this before. anyone know why? I tried to ask the tech support that's responsible for the lab, all I got is dumb & dumber answers like, "hmm.... I never thought of that" or "that's how it runs before I came in....".....

| are they actually terminators? or maybe something else like a type of transceiver? noise filter?
i'm just PSA* with that so hey, it's a shot, huh?
*PSA = Pulling Sh*t out of A*s (something we like to use around the office when one of us is obviously MSU (Making Sh*t Up). | |

| Yeah. they are actual terminators... according to the guy in charge of the Lab support ppl. I suspect it's a filter, but he said no. and I ask why need a terminator, we don't use it in my school labs, and it's fine. he was like freek out, insist of it's the correct way. but can't tell me why, or how the thing help the network connection.
anyway, just wondering if anyone ever see anything like this. and chunder, it's no S%(@#t... thx for your help.
