| Can any one suggest the importance of certain topic by giving (1 - the least important, 5 - the most important), you may add any topic that I have missed.
a. OSI Model
b. Routing Protocol (RIP, IGRP)
c. IPX/SPX
d. WAN
e. IP Subneting
f. Swtiching
g. Routing
h. IOS

"YES" all the above!,,,,I realize your intentions are good however, the list that you have provided and the items on it are equally important as the other.
I use to have the same mind set as you do, but to come full circle with these technologies, you must think "out of the box" so to speak, and have something to offer to your future employer, something that the other guy does not have.
I.E an understanding that alone these technologies are not as IMPORTANT as if you know how much better they can be together.

I do like my job, and yes I am in the IT field and do pay attention to detail as it's something employers like.
I was simply trying to inject a little humour, I think you should reread your own quote - and maybe apologise and think before you flame next time.
You dont have to answere if you do not feel like it,,,,
