| Will the Routing tcp\ip book by Doyle get me thru the 503 test (as long as I supplement some bgp)? | |

| Maybe but I don't suggest it as your primary book. I recommend using it to clarify and fill in for the primary book of your choice.

| General Maximum,
From experience, I can tell you that one resource sometimes is not enough. For example, when preparing for CCNA, I read three different books on the subject to make sure that I understood different perspectives. For example, the terms routing protocol, routed protocol, router protocol do not always mean the same thing depending on the author. Again, some authors write that Split Horizon and Split Horizon w/ route poisioning are the same thing. They aren't I typically recommend using two or three resources from different authors when preparing for a test. For the BSCN test that I am taking in two weeks, I am using Cisco press, a basic 640-503 prep book, and Learnkey. This, combined with my study methods has enabled me to never fail a test. Let me know if you want a good procedure for studying, I can give you that also.
Just my two cents guys! | |

| I'd go with Cisco Press for 503. I'm studying it as we speak and I also have the Sybex guide. The cisco press seems to explain everything in much detail. It's a little long and dry, but I'm understanding OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP better than I would if I used just the Sybex. I say Cisco Press all the way...good luck. |
