| I have been offered by my company to take a 7-day CCNA boot camp, I was just wondering from others if the boot camps are worth the trouble or are they just glorified seminars? Touching the highlights and not getting into the real meat of the topic?
I do not know any more info. on the boot camp other than it's 7-day sometime in late July-August and total cost for me is only $350 which covers materials and test voucher
Any comments appreciated.

| I have never been to a "boot-camp" training session (unless you include Marine Corps Boot Camp, but that's off topic). However, I strongly recommend that you take it. Most of those things cost THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, and you're getting it for only $350!!!! Not only that, you get a test voucher, which is worth $100, so really you're only paying $250 for the course!! What a bargain!! Consider yourself a lucky SOB and go! You can teach CCNA in a week. Remember no matter how long a CCNA course is, studying is what's gonna make you pass. Any CCNA course should just be a foundation and guide for you're studying. | |

| I would absolutely go just to see what it is like. And besides, it is certainly not a bad stepping stone. Just as long as you know that you aren't going to be an internetworking master after a week of training. There are plenty of people that put down "boot camps", but they are usually referring to people that get training for a week, barely pass the test, and become certified. If you have a genuine interest to learn, it would be worth your time, not to mention fun! IMO, you would be doing yourself a disservice by not going. | |

| i attended a "boot camp" for a week and it cost my company more than your $350. do it! mine was with New Horizons... the instructor was cool, the people were cool and the labs kicked A$$! if it was a 2-week deal it woulda been the ultimate... but in the week i got to bounce some questions off of other people, play with some equipment, learn some things i was struggling with on my own and find out where i was weak so i could focus on that.
again, i say do it... besides, it's kinda like a free mini-vacation. | |
