I just pased my N+ this week and am now considering whether to go for the Inet + or the CCNA.

Give my N+ knowledge level could anyone tell me how long it would take to cram for the CCNA?

Cheers

Cram for the exam? I'm not in favor of just passing the exam, but if you really put your mind to it and got the proper materials you could prepare for the CCNA in 4-8 weeks.

I never took the N+ exam but have been told it equates to the MS Networking Essentials exam. If this is true then the N+ only brushed over the basics that you will need for the CCNA.

I took the 70-058 Net Ess exam and found it to be easier than Net+. The CCNA study materials have much greater depth and breadth than either. I have spent 3 semesters in Cisco classes and a lot of time in the lab, learning enough to maybe pass the CCNA. On the practice tests I have not been able to score a pass on the first time. I would speculate that the CCNA exam is far more difficult that either of the others but won't know for sure for about a week, when I travel for the test. I am using Sybex kit, the Cisco companion guide, Dummies book and Sybex exam notes. A lot of information for sure. I think that several months at least to prepare for a pass.

As others have said above, I would not want to cram for the CCNA.

To me, reading about cisco is MUCH MORE important than passing the CCNA exam.

There are people who attend the CISCO netacad academy for 2 years and then pass the exam and then there are others that cram hard for 4-8 weeks and pass the exam.

I do have to say that having the knowledge needed to pass the N+ exam HELPS A LOT when going for the CCNA.

I think 8 weeks is good enough to pass any written exam as long as you studyy twice a week.........

The question isn't what it takes to pass the exam, rather it is how long does it take to understand the material. The CCNA is an entry level exam and therefore is not that difficult. In fact by all reports it is easier now then it used to be...

The certification may help you get an interview, but I think you'll find the technical portion of the interview much more difficult then the exam. That's why I try to emphasize the importance of learning the material! Save ya some embarrassment at the interview.

I think you can learn the material in 8 weeks or so. So what if you get embarassed at an interview. You will learn from it and move on to the next interview.

Thanks folks..........Yeah I want to know the material properly.....when I said cram..I meant like intensive study every day rather than 2hours 3 times a week which is what I gave the N+. Also can any1 tell me whether itis possible to gain a good understanding of cisco by just using routersim?

Hi Tabath

As far as routerism go try the www.r1r2.com for testing out your skills. I have used it once but am not far enough into my studies to really understand it well.. Hope this helps and good luck with your studies..
