I am also in cisco networking academy!!

I just wanted to ask those people who passes CCNA. Are there a lot of router commands questions?

Hi!

I would also like to know how many Q's (avarage) are on the CCNA about router commands.

A bucketload. Know them like the back of your hand, though only the basic commands. Before tackling routers, I suggest memorising the OSI model backwards, forwards and sideways, and getting subnetting down. The router commands are easier if you have a live net to work with and play around with, so if possible, get some hands-on.

You need to know all of the ones in the CCNA book. Also along this line is your show commands you gotta know them and what exactly they display. Here's an example:

Which of the following shows you access lists applied to interfaces (choose two)?

a. show ip int
b. show access-lists
c. show prot
d. show run

The answers are a and d. It's sort of a trick question because show access-lists only shows you the access-lists, not which interfaces they're applied. Also, sh ip int only shows you the ip ACL's applied, but they always ask for the "best answer."

Also know at which level each command is applied. For example, you can't ping in global config mode, but you can at user and priviledged mode, and you can only do an extended ping at priviledged mode.

You might see something like this:

Which command pings host 172.6.7.6 ten times?

a. RouterA>ping
b. RouterA#ping 172.6.7.6
c. RouterA>ping 172.6.7.6 10
d. RouterA#ping

Of course, d is the answer, but be on the look out for what mode the commands are in.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Thank you Trouble, just when I think I'm almost ready to test, you scare me back to the books. Now I would call that last a trick question, an odd little tidbit of information that may cost a test taker $100 for a re-test. Many thanks for the heads up.

I just finished 3rd semester Cisco Net Acad (4.0 all the way)and am thinking that I'll take the test next week. The person(s) that have offered to exchange study materials remind me of the second hand book exchanges, organized by the schools, that I participated in while attending college. I think that there is a bit of overdone indignation toward those who have offered to swap study materials in this forum. Is there a place where students can share or exchange their materials legally? I used to swap books when I lived on campus and while I would not want to break any laws, I don't see that selling used texts or original disks is morally wrong. Inappropriate in this forum perhaps, but a link to the appropriate venue would serve students better than a scolding. That said, I do appreciate this forum.

Extended Ping Only Works In Privileged Mode. That tatoo goes right under the No Shutdown tatoo I got during 1st semester.
