I'm actually unaware of any decent books for subnetting. However, there are a couple of good links for it:

Basic Subnetting
Advanced Subnetting

I prefer the second one . . .

Well, subnetting is like learning to ride a bike. When you're a kid you DREAD learning it at first... and also riding a bike is not something you can learn from a book.

Subnetting is the same way... it's something that you just have to really really try to do and once you grasp it -- its very easy.

My advice is that if you know somebody who knows how to subnet, buy them a couple beers and bring a whiteboard or some paper. It's something that just needs to be explained the right way with examples (like riding a bike) and you will be able to get it. Books cannot answer your questions in real-time like a person can.

Once you get it thought keep practicing! (it takes quite some reinforcement)
