| i think you might have,,, i had this similar problem with a switch i bought,,, but i was able to send back to cisco because it had a bad port too.
Here is what you can try...... Now that i think about it im not sure if it will work with a switch, but you some how have to try and copy an ios image from a tftp server...
There showuld be a command in boot mode that allows you to tftp.
If you dont know how to tftp an image there is a lot of doceumentation on cisco site, plus im sure some stuff on boot mode for a switch... The hard part is getting the ios,,, if you have a cco account you can get it for free from the site...
hope that helps. | |

| AFAIK, "boot system flash" just tells the switch to boot from the first bootable file in flash, so maybe you did something else?
Start by checking your flash by typing:
flash_init
dir flash:
This should allow you to determine if you have a bootable image. You should have a big file around 1 MB or more.
If the image is there, type
boot flash:your_image.bin
If your image is indeed missing, I don't think the 29xxXL support tftp from boot mode, so you'll have to use xmodem which will take quite some time (OUCH!!)
Check back
