What type of routing protocol exchanges routing information between routers in the same AS?

What type of routing protocol exchanges routing information between routers in different AS's?

igp like rip, igrp, eigrp, ospf, etc

I think the answers your questions are looking for are interior and exterior routing protocols.

An exterior routing protocol is used to exchange routing info between different autonomous systems.

An interior routing protocol is used within the same autonomous system.

Only to add to EP-3's list:

- IS-IS is also an Interior Gateway Protocol

- EGP (Exterior Gateway Protocol) is also an Exterior Gateway Protocol. EGP (the protocol) is quickly phased out by BGP. I suspect the number of Autonomous Systems running EGP and their EGP is negligible these days.

try to learn the difference between distance vector, link state etc..also have a look at RIP EGIP,BGP,etc etc...also got to cisco web site to find more details about the specific protocols...
