Hi to all. I have taken the CCNA test once, failed, dont ask what i got on the test. Am in need of help, I have been working of transcender & ICRC frm Cisco which was edited by Laura Chappell.

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a good CCNA book that i could study of or an idea of what type of approach to take in preparing, i have gone thru the book @ least three
time, i feel pretty good in most areas, but need wrk in access lists, protocols & frame relay.

Please help.....

Hi,

I haven't taken the test yet. Most people say the Sybex Book by Todd Lammle is enough to pass the exam. I purchased the CCNA Certification Kit which includes the book and an e-trainer. I the e-trainer is a Limited Simulated Network Environment. I goes well with the book. If you decide to get, try to get the Latest Version, because the earlier versions have many typos and you would have to go to their website to get the corrections.

I noticed that many people pass with Sybex alone, a lot with high scores but there is a pattern with people that get exceptional scores they usually get the Cisco Press book by Wendell Odom and some other Cisco book. The Sybex gives only what you need to pass and is written very simple, while the Cisco books give you more knowledge for real life.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Navid,

Lammel's book is by far the best,"I have read 3-different books." I would recommend getting suresh's ccna kit or exam ess 5.5.

If you still have doubts or issues consort with cisco's home page and review the objectives of the test. This will at least trim some of the excess info that you may/may not need to know.

I wish you luck, and keep us informed as to how you fare. ,,,,silky,,,,

I agree with you guys. Todd Lamle's book is the best I read. He goes into more detail than the cisco press books. However, practicing subnetting, access lists, WAN protocols, etc.. is twice as important for this test than reading. I read the book a few times, but I didnt really understand the material enough to duplicate it on my own until i sat there and practiced the chapters I knew were my weak points. Dont get discouraged, patience is the key to this one.

navid,

I think the Sybex book and ICND book from Cisco Press will give you what you need to pass the test.
