| Q: If you are required by your service provider to configure a SPID on your ISDN connection, how many numbers will you need to configure?
A: Two, one for each B-channel
I know that the D-channel is for control and signaling, why would you need to config two SPIDs. For redundancy? | |

Nope. Your BRI connection has two B-channels. There is one SPID for each of them. I believe SPIDs are used in NA only.
BTW: In my part of the world we do not need to specify SPID. The BRI connection still has two telephone numbers.

| I have a little experience with this. In NA two SPIDs are reqrd, but I have installed CSU/DSU units that only allowed one SPID to be entered. I called Adtran regarding this and they said that the model I was installing only allowed one SDIP. Also, ISDN opperates at 128k, so it will take two 64k ch bound together to do this.

| ISDN can work at 64K....doesn't have to be 128K.
