trunk connection & ISL

| can somone tell me what is the diff between these two, trunk connection and ISL with in VLAN network envenviromnet help would really appreciated thanks. | |

| ISL (Inter Switch Link)is one type of (cisco proprietary) trunking protocol used with ethernet.
802.q (IEEE standard also used with ethern.
802.10 (Used with FDDI)
LANE (used with ATM)
are other trunking protocols.
All these can be used to create a trunked connection
NB: 802.10 is actually the cisco name for a modification of 802.10 which can carry VLAN info
