Hello Bernie

Todd Lammle does not cover this in his book. But if memory srves me right, you will the TTY option on a 2511 router - also konwn as a terminal server (asynch).

The syntax I believe is:

router(config)#line 1 (through to as many asynch ports as the router has - for a 2511 it's 16, for a 3640 it can be as much as 48)

This wil then take you to the asynch line config:

router(config-line 1)#

and enable you to config the asynch parameters for that line.

Hope this helps (I hope it's right!)

TTY is an asynchrounous interdace used typically for remote-node dial-in sessions that use protocols such as SLIP, PPP, AppleTalk Remote Access (ARA), and XRemote.

to see the max number of TTY lines supported enter the "interface line tty ?" command or "interface async ?"

need more info...you know what to do...

Since I can't afford an access server, does someone have a picture of what a TTY interface looks like? Is it the same as an asynchronous interface (async 0-8)? TIA!

Nevermind...I should have pulled my head out of my...(you know) and read the whole thread before I posted this.
