not strictly an exam question but does anyone know if a 7206 router bought in north america will work on a UK power source if the necessary power cords are bought ? is it a simple case of flicking a switch ?

You should be able to provide your own power supply. With a high model like that, it is mostly modular troughout, even with the power supply. If not shure always check documantation at http://www.cisco.com .

USA uses 120v AC @ 60Hz.
UK uses 220v AC @ 50Hz (right).

So don't just plug it in, select voltage if it is supported, othervice provide your own DC power to the unit.
