| From what I understand NetWare 3.11 uses frame type 802.3, while NetWare 4.11 uses frame type 802.2.
Although, I have come across a question a question about a network using Netware 3.11 servers. Then you add a Netware 4.11 server. What configuration must you add to the Cisco routers. Supposed answer: SAP encapsulation.
Strange, I would have thought you would add Ethernet_802.3.
Any thoughts?

| Ok here is the reason:
quote:
What is the default encapsulation of Netware 3.12?
1- Ethernet_II (IP frames/packets)
2- 802.5 (TokenRing)
3- 802.2 (LLC header)
4- 802.3 (RAW, ie without LLC header)
NW 3.11 and below uses 802.3(RAW)
NW 3.12 and above to 4.1x uses 802.2(LLC)
NW 5.x and above uses IP
So the correct answer to your question is 802.2 not 803.3
Hope this helps |
