| I have my A+,CCNA and roughly 1 year experience and I can not find a job. I live in the Cincinnati area, does anybody have any tips for me and how I can get employers to call me back. Sorry this isn't a technical question but I need some help. Thanks | |

| Good certs. However, need some windows in there. MCP would be nice for starters and not so hard to obtain. 1 year experience doing what. Desktop, Helpdesk, Routers, etc. My best advice is to get on with a small to mid size consulting company. They can be somewhat volitile but that is where you will gain the most hands on experience. A lot of times you will get thrown in over your head and get to learn how to swim fast. Keep getting certified while you build experience. The two in tandem offer the most success. I have no idea what your social situation is but you might want to consider moving. There are several IT hotbeds around the country. As far as getting employers to call you back just have a great resume' and be prepared to itemize what you have accomplished in the field. They love problem/result troubleshooting stuff or things that show responsibility. Hope this helps. My first job was a network administrator on a 50 station Novell network. From there to a consulting companies where I learned everything from how to pull runs of ethernet cable to building high end compaq servers. We did it all. Now I am taking these skills to the next level adding routers to the mix. Good luck!!!

Put hundreds (really, I'm not joking) of resumes on the market and be prepared to accept entry level. We're living in tough times, unfortunately...
Cheers and good luck! |
