| What is MAC address I mean what's its format in to 5 dots. | |

| The most common formats are xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx and xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. I've seen xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx in a couple of places, but it's very unusual and confusing. (the 'x's are hexadecimal numbers.)
Cheers!
PS
Oh, I remembered; there's also xxxx.xxxx.xxxx | |

| A MAC address is basically a unique 48 bit hexadecimal value assigned to a NIC.
A MAC address of a NIC can be looked as the DNA of a Human... "Unique to every single card/person"
In a MAC Address, the first half is a number given to a certain organization... for example:
All 3 com NIC's will start with:
4a:3f:2c:xx:xx:xx
The last, and second half, is unique to every single NIC that a company makes....
