Author Thanks all!

I guess it hasn't been a year since I've been posting here and it's been great, but all good things must come to an end.

It seems many don't agree with my hard line against braindumps. Yep, I can be harsh and flippent at times, probably ruffling a few feathers along the way, so rather then become a distraction to a great site, I'll pack up and move on. Maybe 2 years of answering questions on various sites is too much without a break

In any case, I loved my time here and learned alot, so thank you all!

That's a HUGE loss for this forum... Please say it's not because my recent post about closing threads! Or at least not only because of that!

Please don't go, Yankee... we need you!

If you allow dumpsters to drive you out of the forum, they win, and we lose a great friend and comrade.

Please reconsider... please.

I would second the feelings of the others here in saying that your leaving would be a HUGE loss. I certainly look forward to your insightful answers to many of the questions that have been posted here. I think there are many here that have benefited from your input even if they don't post to the threads.

I know we won't always agree on everything here, but let me assure you, I want you here!
I was really looking forward to a DC gathering so that I could meet you there.

Yankee...say it ain't so!

Hey Yankee

If your busy, we understand, but like every one else i agree it would be a big loss to have someone of your commitment leave this forum. If you do go best of luck in what ever you do.

Remember " you can checkout any time you want....... but you can never leave!"

If I wanted to be terribly British i think i would now say something like

Three cheers for Yankee. Hip Hip, Hooray. Hip Hip Hooray. Hip hip hooray.

But I wont cos it naff.

I've been lurking this forum for quite a while now, and I must say that, in my opinion, Yankee is almost solely responsible for making this forum readable.

I'm not saying that he necessarily has the highest technical competence of anyone here, nor do I believe I'm qualified to make that judgement.

I am, however, saying that without Yankee, the wisdom of other dedicated minds such as Skipster, MadChef, Deets etc would probably be lost in a brain-stunning, apathy-inducing, never-ending stream of requests for everything and anything that some people think will give them the magical edge they need to pass.

In conclusion, without at least one moderator with slightly fascistic (sorry Yankee tendencies, this truly great forum, which I believe to be unparalleled in the area of certification, runs a high risk of slowly but surely withering up and die.

Peace,

Seriously Yankee, people in this forum NEED you and your life experiences.

Simply take a break and revitalize your motor.

If its worth anything to you,,,I was considering checking out some dumps/Brains. After hearing how everyone feels, I have elected to pass this test dump free.

I feel as though the material is worth learning since I hope to be working with this technology. Not just another accronym for the resume ya know.

Thanks for listening yank/ee,,And by the responses I hope you dont leave for awhile.

Silky.

Yankee,

Don't go man!! You along with all the other moderators on this forum have so much wisdom that to lose one of you especially because of a difference of opinion feels like lost a lot more the an intellectual mind.

You are a leader and leaders dare to do things that the average person tends not to do, like making a stand for their beliefs. It seems that if you throw in the towel now, you will be giving up on something you feel passionate about.

Reconsider you decision, please! Apart of leadership is understanding that we unfortunately aren't going to please everyone.

When a situation like this knocks to down make sure you land on your back, 'cause if you can see up.... YOU CAN GET UP!!!!

GET UP AND BE THE LEADER YOU ARE!!!!!

p.s Sorry about the babble!! :-)

Hey Yankee;

Anything I could say would just be a repeat of what has already been said. I've been watching the dumps post and I hope that that isn't the reason why you're leaving as moderator.

I think everyone here (those who posted and those who haven't) agree with your statement regarding dumps. If you do go, we not only loose a large part of this forum, but also kind of like a member of an extended family (I guess for those of us who have no life of our own!! Geez, I think I need a kleenex now...)

Anyways, don't go!!

Dont leave Yankee! This is such an awesome forum and its because of Members like you. If you leave, we are one step closer to being like all the other time wasting forums out there. We may have our disputes but the knowledge base in this forum is more than enough to overcome that.

Hey Yankee!

I don't think you're too harsh on braindumpers by any stretch! When I first became moderator in December, I was so timid not to hurt people's opinions when deleting/locking posts it was frightening! After a couple of weeks I was locking/deleting posts left, right and centre. And I don't think I was tough enough! In any case, I trust your judgment, and I'm sure a lot of people here do. Besides being a good moderator when it comes to presiding over things, you're a valuable resource to this forum technically. If you're going to leave us, don't do it because of any pro-braindumper sentiment here - you know that there is also a strong anti-dumping sentiment too. If the dumpers win over, there goes our great forum...

Cheers,

Deets

Yankee, please stick around. The sole reason why I like this forum is because it is devoid of any "me too's" or "can I get a braindump" this n that. True, you may have ruffled a few feathers, but isn't that what a public forum is all about?

this forum would be a boring place without you. i actually enjoyed what everyone had to say on that last debate. i didn't think it was anything bad.... just a lot of passion.

i would be sad to see you leave for the reasons you have stated.

i hope you chage your mind.

Yankee, I admire you for taking a stand against dumpsters. Because of this philosophy, this forum is a place where you can actually learn something. This site is quality stuff, due to the hard work of you and others. If you did not take the stand you did, the quality of the site would soon drop, and be littered with dumps and misinformation, which lower the value of our hard earned qualifications. Please rethink your decision and be guided by the voice of many, not by the remarks of one.

Ciao,

Wavy

2001-01-31, 12:55 am

Well Yankeee, now you have no choice, your out-numbered. More people want you to stay(everyone) than those who want you to leave(nobody). We all support you man. Stick around.

2001-01-31, 4:25 am

WTF? A little color on boards is what makes them great and keeps it interesting.

Please keep in mind all the great help you have provided around here (which far outweighs anything which could...and I mean could be interpreted as a hard line).

I only hope your decision is your decision and you were not "persuaded" by someone else. Myself...and others...would like to see ya hang around.

I'd rather have someone speak their mind rather than sugar coat a topic of discussion and serve it up on a silver platter.

Anyway...nothin' but respect for ya, Yankee!

Yankee,

Hey partner, 95% of the forum agrees with you on your stance about braindumps.

So what's the real reason for leaving?

If George W. Bush gets to be President by winning 48% of the vote, you surely can help out with an approval rate in the 90% (lastest Gallop Pole stats).

But anyway, take a break and enjoy the offseason. We'll see you in mini-camp.

Peace

Your contributions make me come to this forum, it would be sad to see you go.

Dumps **** !!! Good luck in your endevors.

2001-01-31, 3:12 pm

You need to do what you need to do for you Yank. I would prefer to have you here as moderator, or if that's not possible, as a very active contributor. The reason I spend some time here and contribute my $.02 is precisely because it's not a dump sharing board.

Oooooops...I was just getting to read this thread because of a running battle I have been having with my PC - Wins 2000 will not instal. The news that Yankee is leaving is so frightening. He definately will take away the high standards this forum is noted for with him!

Yankee, why do you really want to go?

2001-01-31, 11:47 pm

Yankee,

Deets is right, You're too easy on the dumping issue. You need to stay around and really SLAM the fools who want dumps.

I hope you'll reconsider. If not, at least post once in awhile.

Tom
