Do I need to read these subjects?

| I'm still reading my first book-Cisco, a beginners guide, and I see some subjects that I don't think is going to be on the test(would be good for general knowledge though). Can anybody verify if this topics are covered on the CCNA exam:
Firewalls->interior/exterior details, NAT/PAT....
Autonomus Systems
Security->something about AAA??
Network Management->RMON, NMS, very detailed SNMP, Ciscoworks...
Some of which I will read, others I think I can skip for this test and then read after I completed the exam. I'm just getting a little frustrated since I've barely touched the Sybex book. Can anybody help?

| Those are really advanced topics. I'd be surprised if any of them are covered in any depth on the CCNA exam.

| I think I have the same book as you do Bernie. I just finished off my Network+ last week and wanted a primer type book for Cisco. I agree with you that this one has a little too much information for someone out to get their CCNA. It is written for someone who wants general information about Cisco. I think the Sybex book for CCNA would be a better choice to start with...I'm sending my Beginners Guide back to the library after I read the chapters that seem to apply. | |

| It does go into info such as IOS Firewall featured sets, dynamic access list and internet design basics. I thought the routing protocols section was good as well as the router overview. I'm planning on keeping the book but am going to switch my studies over to the Sybex book.
