Hi everyone,
I've just come back from taking my exam and i passed with 903.
I'm still in shock. The questions were so vague that i thought i'd failed.
I'd just like to say thank you for this invaluable forum. It's the best there is. I found it incredibly useful.
To those yet to sit the test i'd say all the exam objectives are covered.Don't make the mistake of trying to memorise without actually understanding what you read. If you read and understand, then no matter how hard they twist the question, you'll be able to decipher the answer.
There was quite a lot of Frame-relay and switching.A few on IP addressing,Access-List and Almighty OSI.The CLI stuff was fairly basic. It's as i said earlier, there are no shortcuts. You simply have to read, read and read but understand, understand and understand.
I have absolutely no IT experience whatsoever.I'm simply making a career move for the better i hope. I used Todd Lammle's book and E-trainer, not to forget this wonderful site of course.
Once again, keep up the good work and to all those yet to sit the exam, best of luck.

Congratulations and Good Luck on whatever you pursue next. I am taking mine at the end of next week. This will be my second attempt so hopefully I will be successful this time around.

Congrats. Whats Next?

I liked the way that you had advised. Specifically the following words

It's as i said earlier, there are no shortcuts. You simply have to read, read and read but understand, understand and understand.

Which I agree with you fully.

Hi Cathy,
It was my second attempt too. I took the test in July about 10 days after completing a 5 day course.
Needless to say, i failed. It was the CCNA 1.0 and my score was 738. At the time i sat the test the first time around i knew deep inside that i'd probably fail, reason being when i took that test i didn't have a clue what i was doing. I basically just ate the book without actually understanding any of the key concepts. Lets just say i was reading to pass a multiple choice test. hoping that by memorising the whole book blindly, seeing the multiple answers on the actual test will nudge me in the right direction. Girl was i wrong. To be able to answer the questions in the way Cisco has sets them, you just have to have a deeper knowledge of the stuff.
I'm glad things turned out as did because for my second attempt i really got to study the stuff properly and i can honestly say i enjoyed it. I know that should i present myself at any interview now, i'm confident that i wont be b*******ing. I'll be able to make a lot of sense. I've enjoyed studying so much this time around that i can't wait to start working with Cisco routers and switches. I feel like i'm beginning a new life. I hope i don't sound too sad, it's just that since university - some years ago, i've been stuck in this low pay dead end job. Enough of my tribulations. Just want to wish you the very best for next week. I've seen a few of your previous postings and i can see that you're doing all the right things in order to reach your goal. I have every faith that you'll make it this time. Look if i could do it anyone can. GOOD LUCK.
Fyona
