I start my semester 1 on Sept 13th at a Network Academy, I have been reading the Cisco press book Network Companion.
I know people are different but do you find it easier to learn the stuff be reading and re-reading or taking notes. I found carrying flash cards quite helpful, any suggestions...

Spide,
There are all kinds of theories out there about which types of studying works best. My 2 cents suggests that the most effective type will involve indepth review of the information. Depending on your learning style you may prefer study notes, re-reading, or any other possible combination. If you've ever studied for a tough exam before, think back on what techniques you used to get that good grade, and avoid the ones that resulted in poor performance. My personal style lends me toward a 1st reading that involves taking notes and preparing a study guide for each chapter. The process helps ingrain the information into my "longer" term memory and ensure that I fully understand what I read. The second, third, ...... steps will include re-reading the book until the information is like a second language. I know there might be quicker and easier techniques, but I REALLY want to know my stuff when I'm given the chance to work on a real Cisco network!!!!

Just my 2 cents
