Author Advice Please!

2000-08-28, 9:01 pm

Hello all, I am a recent graduate of the Cisco Network Academy. As u mostly likely know the Academy study material was woefully lacking in meaningful Vlan an 1900 switch operation ect. I have gotten the new Sybex book and a Cisco proper book to fill in that gap(I hope).

?...how much can a guy expect to see on these two topics on the new test. I have a friend who took 507, his had no questions on either.

Also, what tests free/for pay or other wise most closely represent the real test? I have bosums(not too difficult), Sybex(easy), Techworks(some of it very difficult), or so I have found.

Any advice anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

My friend took a 5 day course(taught by a CCIE) that used 2 books "Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices" Volumes 1 and 2, Versions 1.0a. He also got a CD that has 440 Questions on it by "Self Test Software". He says that this is all he used. He said that he read off an on for a month and then studied hard for about a week.(got a 900 something). He said it was easy(what else, lol).

I know he is not a good comparison for me (or perhaps you) though. He is a Network Administrator with 10 yrs experience and many other certs. He also has a Masters in Computer Science and on and on. Even a Menza member for goodness sakes. He is a good guy though. I do wish I could have helped you!

Has anyone used the "Self Test Software" mentioned earlier in this tread? It seems reasonably priced for 440 questions.
Thanks

aktribes and all...I went and got the "Selftest Software CD" from my friend earlier today. I would rate it very good, better than anything but that "Techmindworks"
site. I find that some of there questions are much harder then the rest. Please take into account that I have not taken the test though. I would just love to have someone tell me there is better, really. I will go there. If any one knows where the golden goose is...I want to know. I suppose(know) studying your "blank" off is best, which I am doing. There is no free lunch...I just want any advantage I can get, like anyone else...good luck to all!

The only other test I've seen that look promising are the boson and transender. They are all rather expensive, but the more practice the better.
