Author Passed the CCNA today

Woo-Hoo!! I passed the 640-507 test today with a 946, and I wanted to thank all of you for the information and support on this message board. I used the Cisco Press ICND book, Cisco Press CCNA study guide, and the Transcender as study materials. Additionally, I had about 2 hours of experience on routers from r1r2.com (excellent resource that is free).

The test covered all of the topics listed on the CCNA exam outline and preparation guide at Cisco's site and did not focus on any one area. All in all, I thought it was about as hard as the NT Enterprise test. I think the ICND book was the best preparation for this test. The Cisco Press study guide covered all of the material in more detail than the test required.

Good luck to everyone!

Job well done Angstrom, great score.

I am using the ICND & Odom's 507 book. I got the e-trainer for $55 and then upgraded it to the routersim 2.0 for another $100. The way I look at it I saved $60 from routersim.com $230 price tag and I set up six routers and 2 switches over and over again, nothing like repetition to really learn something. Of course there are some limitations with router sim's but these give you a good understanding of the IOS.

Thanks guys,
The r1r2.com lets you telnet into (2) 2500 routers and connect them through ethernet or serial. I've also heard good things about the routersim. Either way, you can't go wrong with some hands-on experience.

Good luck on your exams

Alright then...another up and coming ccie in the makins...congradulation....i have one query...i tried about amonth or so ago and i couldnt get passed collecting pass words for the r1r2 free router site...either my browser, connection or the site was unable to let me access...but u say its working.is there any fine details or tips that i missed?
i... may give it another shot or maybe some late date? i heard that eventually that will start charging? if so hopefully reasonable...i do so luv to nitpick answers and questions...on other routers for hire sites i think that the fees are alittle stiff and you must use you access wisely. again congradulations Later

ionsurfer,

about r1r2.com

For what I gathered they change their passwords and usernames. They say its to get people to return to their site. to get some more hits. Chances are if you cant log on with your current passwords they have changed.

the current username is freelab , password is frlb

ps-i got the above info from their site this morning.

Ionsurfer,

What sean34 said and pay close attention to the banner in the telnet session after you log in. It will tell you how to move back and forth to configure each router from a single telnet session.
