book reviews, have you noticed?

| I was looking at amazon.com for IT books, and I was reading the reviews because I didn't want to drop all of my hard earned cash on a book that was not well written, or that would not help me pass whatever exam or learn whatever topic that I was reading about. Anyway, I am reading all of these glowing reviews about all these IT books by some guy who is a top 1000 reviewer, and it appears that all he does is go around writing reviews about every single book out there. I wont mention his name, but just look at any of the a+ or mcse or ccna books, and it is kind of frustrating to read all these and know that this guy might be in the field, but there is no way that he could have read every book he reviewed! From now on, I am just going to come here and ask you guys! | |

| Just wanted to comment about the books.
I have the exam prep and exam cram books from coriollis and the sybex one for the 640-507 exam.
The sybex book was MUCH better and focused on the exam objectives.
I recommend it..

| Well, I would like to give my opinion on books. I think sybex books are designed/written for kids! If you just want to pass the exam only, buy any xxxcram or any xxxbooks. But if you really want to learn the material and want to persue further in this field, buy only cisco press! Don't look here and there!! By the way I'm not the cisco sales person
Guys, this is just my opinion, so plz don't shout @ me. Thanks!

| I agree with you Hash, The 507 book by Cisco
is great, along with the ICND book and a router sim and your set, just my opinion you understand. I hate reading the same book over and over so I like to have a second resource.
Good luck with your test rlourns I will be taking it myself in about one mounth. | |

| Hash,
I went to the bookstore and sat down with the Wendell Odom "Cisco CCNA Exam #640-507 Certification Guide" book for about 20 minutes.
I tell you what, that is ONE scary, dense, monster book. As an MCSE, that book looked waaay over my head. I bet if you absorbed that book cover to cover, you'd have a sporting chance at a CCIE.
Did you really read and understand EVERY page of that book? If you did, you a better man than me. I'd have to read the Todd Lammle book twice before I'd even think of tackling the Cisco Press book. No wonder these Cisco engineers are getting paid the big bucks .... they deserve six figures from the looks of that one book alone. |
