Author Frame-Relay Interface-DLCI Command Question.

2000-07-26, 11:08 pm

Can anyone shed a little more light on when and why this command is used? Some of the configs I have seen for Frame Relay use this and some don't.

Lammle just seemed to glance over this one, didn't give enough detail. Any info appreciated.

Thanks.

According to the materials from the Cisco ICND class, frame-relay interface-dlci <#> is required for point-to-pont configured subinterfaces or multipoint configured subinterfaces with Inverses ARP enabled.

that command is used to establish where the pvc is going. In other words that subinterface on the router has a Permanent Virtual Circuit to xxxxxx. That DLCI number identifies the site at the other end of the PVC.
