People passing CCNA 1.0 exams...
|
|
|
| I am beginning to find it strange why so many people have only recently started taking CCNA 1.0 exams and are planning to tke the exam real soon, if not on the 31st like some. The exam is scheduled to retire and those that become certified will have it expire long before their certificate even arrives. I stopped halfway through the 1.0 track and started the 2.0 track because of this very reason. Anyone care to opinionate?

| Michael,
I'm happy enough to see this influx to a certain degree. Since the v.1 exam differs from the v.2 by about 20% [notably Switching & VLan's emphasis], that leaves a lot of overlap.
I guess people are frightened by a lack of resources/guides etc on the new exam.
I personally completed v.1 because I predominantly work with routers.
Regards.

| The fact the exam is retired does not mean that their CCNA1.0 certification expires. Cisco has yet to publish the re-cert timelines but the best guess is about 3 years from the date of your last exam for that cert.

| My reason for sitting for the 407 this past Friday was because I just finished 4 semesters at college in The Cisco Networking Academy. The material that I learned was based on the 407 exam. It would be ignorant and costly for my situation to postpone my exam to study the 20% gap. I also just called the guys up at Cisco to make sure that I would not not have to re-cert right now. The 1800# is found on the certification portion of the Cisco website. The guy said that that they have yet to determine a re-cert program and if they did determine a program by the end of this year, I would not have to re-cert until December of 2002. By then I will be a CCNP and hopefully even a CCIE. If you have any questions you should try calling 1-800-829-NETS(6387). There is a very short hold-time and they were very informative. | |

| I find it strange that someone would even post a new topic such as this.
Good luck to all - whether preparing for CCNA 1 or 2.

| Okay, I was not sure if the 1.0 certification expires or just the tests. Thank you for the comments. Good luck to all those taking the 1.0 test this week... the clock is ticking! |
