Anyone can clear this Data Encapsulation confusion as I have seen different wording on different sites

User Info-- ---Data ---Application Layer
Data----------Segment--Transport
Segment-------Packets--Network
Packets-------Frame----DataLink
Frame --------Bits-----Physical

What I have seen one of the site they are
Saying..

User Info-----Data---Presentation layer
Is this correct??

Any help will be highly appericiated

Data Encapsulation at each OSI layer:

Layer 5: Session - Data
Layer 4: Transport - Segments
Layer 3: Network - Packets or Datagrams
Layer 2: Data Link - Frames
Layer 1: Physical - Bits

I hope this helps! Please wish me luck as I will be taking my CCNA exam tomorrow! I am currently taking the Cisco Academy at a local college which is very good with hands on with routers and labs.

Mahalo to all and good luck on your Cisco Certification Track. If you would like resources and books on what I have e-mail me at kawaiian1@collegeclub.com

The top three layers -- Application, Presentation, and Session, all deal with the user data. To see any of these next to user data would not be incorrect.

user data starts at the application layer. as it moves up the osi, data is encapsulated at each layer.
