Hi,

Could anyone please tell me how do RARP and IARP differs from each other? or they both refers to the same thing?

RARP is used for MAC to IP resulution. It is a Network Layer Protocol of TCP/IP stack. If you have a diskless PC, it does not know it's IP address. But it does know MAC address. RARP protocol resolves MAC to IP address resolution. It is similer to ARP which resolves IP to MAC address.

IARP is used to discover the network address address of a device associated with a vertual circuit.
Every Frame relay vertual circuits are assigned with a DLCI number. You have to map this number with IP address OR use IARP. IARP perform dynamic maping of the ip address.
