Author Exam information? (I'm testing 11/27)

I get conflicting information regarding the exam itself.

Various sources indicate the passing grade is somewhere between 70-80%. (Whats a measily 10% difference anyway?)

Also what is Cisco's method of scoring these exams? A score of 900 doesn't mean much if it is on a scale of 1500, what is the scale that Cisco uses?

Also any additional details or insights into the exam are helpful. (I.e. what is it you found most difficult about the exam, what you would have done differently to prepare, etc?)

The exam has 65 questions and is scored on a scale of 300 to 1000. The following are all the possible scores, depending on how many questions you get right:

Thanks. Do you know if I can use a pen and paper for the subnetting questions, or do I need to learn to do it in my head?

According to cramsession the passing score is 822, is this correct? According to that chart then one would need to answer 49/65 correct for a score of approx. 75% Ok!

Any additional details are appreciated as always...

Hi Rore2246;

According to Skip, you actually need a passing score of 827 which will be 49 out of 65 question right which is really 75.4%.

As to the subnetting, on any test that I've written before, they usually give you a whiteboard or a blank paper and pen/pencil. From what I've heard from others, this is no different.

Be carefull of the wording, that's the hard part of the test.

I haven't written it yet, but this is what a lot of people are saying.

I heard that they give you a white looking board thing you scribble on, and you turn it in after the test.
(testing in 10 days, SO scared)

Hi,
I only start my exams after i finish with writing some points on the white paper.

once i get the white scratch sheet, i started making references with respect to subnets e.g.
255 127 63 31 15 7 3 1
----------------------
1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1

it helped me dong subnet calculations. you can expand the above example in the reverse order

128 192 224 240 248 252 254 255

this helped me when you have to remove bits to subnet an subnet mask.

Note: it is you wish to start your paper a little late. So put things down what you feel you are going to get confused or going to forget before the exam on the scratch paper.

Anyway i finished my exams in Aug 2000 & finished one CCNP (routing)paper. going to give another paper on the 31/12/2000 (switching).

I have always made a practise to put down all the commands in paper so that it becomes later easier to remember all the commands & it also helps in differentiating some of the commands.

Best of luck guys, If you have studied hard, you will pass the exams.
