Hey,

Each lab is supposed to have 2 routers, right? How do I access the other router?

Thanks

Quantity

Hi quantity.

Have you first set up the router that you initially logged into as your DCE? You need to do this first before accessing the second router. Use the clock rate 56000 command at the s0 config prompt. After that, exit config mode, then go ctrl + shift + 6, then x, then enter (if I remember correctly), and you will see your active sessions from the console server. You will probably only see router 1 at this point. Don't worry that you can only see one router. Type "2" - the other router is there, trust me! - then "enter." You will be transferred over to router 2. If you want to get back to router 1 again, go ctrl + shift + 6, then x. At this point you will probably see both routers. Use 1 or 2 to get to either.

Hope this helps,

Deets

Hi quantity,

There is a digram of the configuration of the two routers which you can download from the site. Have you had a close look at that? On both routers you only need to confugure for the s0 interface. I couldn't get IP RIP working on the routers, but I don't think you actually need this. They are directly connected, so all you should need to do is specify the IP address for each s0 interface (make sure the two s0 interfaces are in the same subnet!!), and there you are! Disable IP RIP before you do this.

Hope this works...I'd be interested to see your feedback.

Cheers,

Deets

HI Deets

So basically if i configured interface s0 with ip address and clockrate and the same s/m i should be able to access router 2 by pressing ctrl shift 6 x then "w" thats what it says on there web site.

Oops, I made a wee mistake here.

OK, firstly go ctrl + shift + 6, then type x. This will put you straight out to the con server. Then "w" and enter. "w" is just a short form of "show sess" - show active telnet sessions. It will then show you something of the form: 1 R0x-1, where x is your lab no. If you get R02-1, then in order to get to router no. two, you will need to type: R02-2, then hit enter. If this doesn't work, then I'm going to cry! (It worked just now for me )

Hello there

I dont know weather i am doing somthing wrong or just thick, but when i tryed this after configuring interface s0 with ip add and clockrate then got out of config mode,
i did ctrl-shift-6-x then "w" it said "NO active connections" which i typed r02-2 which it didnt understand what am i doing wrong?

thanks in advance

When you did a ctl-shift-6 x, did it drop you back to the terminal server? The prompt is different. At that point you can do an r0x-2, where x is your lab number you see at the very beginning, and it will set you on the consle of the second router.

Hi rups.

Keep trying, you're almost there! Have you had a close look at the diagram for the labs? Things will make sense if you do.

1. Make sure you are not in config mode.

2. Hold down ctrl + shift + 6 at the same time, and in that order. Nothing will happen. Release all keys.

3. Press x. You should be passed out to the console server. You will see the prompt ConSvr> where your router prompt was, if you have done this bit successfully.

4. Type w, then hit enter. You will see your active sessions come up. You will initially only see router 1.

5. If you see 1 R03-1, then to get to router 2, type R03-2. This should put you over to router 2.

Hope this is a bit more clear. Sorry if my previous posts were a bit messy.

Deets

Oh jeez!!!! This site is so friggin cool! FREE training! This blew my mind!!! Tutorials, tests, quizzes...Our forum members should be WELL aware of this site. It's our jobs as members to make sure everyone finds great resources to CCNA 2.0 prep. Yes, examnotes is great too but this elearning site is...breath taking. Please disseminate at your discretion as your word is gospel in the forum. It would do me great personal satisfaction if I knew that everyone at LEAST looked at it. You are the man to make it happen.
