Attention IT folks in Melbourne

| Our good friend Deets is extremely talented and has been a great help to us all. I would like to see him sit for at least three interviews no later than two weeks from today.
If anyone knows of any openings for entry-level Cisco work in the Melbourne area, please drop me a line at theskipster@go.com.
Well over 2,500 different people visit this forum every day, quite a few from Australia. Surely someone knows of an opening in the field.
Our industry's strength depends on IT folks sticking together and helping each other in time of need.
All I'm asking is that Deets be given the opportunity of an interview. That's all. He can manage well enough from there.

Thats very nice of you.There is a diffrent point of view when you talk about communities.It helps in believing that we are not alone.Here in India we don not have such community feelings between networking guys as India is primarily known for its software expertise.I also work for a software company and i feel programmers are given more importance than anyone else in IT industry.It doesnt mean that I dont like programming as such but in my country (or perhaps in other countries too)programmers with 1-2 years of exp end up with a generous salary,while us networking guys have to have 4-5 years of solid exp to get anywhere near that kinda salaries.

You make a valid point. I can only speak only from my own experience. Perhaps this feeling of fraternity does not extend into all parts of the world. But it ought to.

Yeah, I think you're right. I'm a programmer, and I get paid a lot (I have a bit more than 1-2 years of experience, though...)

| Hey Sids, I did little dribs and drabs of programming as a teenager, and early 20-yr-old, but didn't actually properly start til I was 28! I'm not saying that I'm a crash hot programmer (I'm only an amateur) but it's something I intend to learn. I have learnt the fundamentals of Java, and have decided to learn C, too.
You're only too old if you think it!!!

| Maybe I'll give it a shot.not that i dont know any programming but certainly not on high-end coding stuff...
Btw.....i think i am too old only for programming!!!here u have 14 yr old kids doing some real hard coding in Java,that makes me feel old.
"18 till I die".

| Sids, I wouldn't let it get you down. As soon as you start comparing yourself to others, you either get an ego-complex (ie. "I'm soooo good") or you feel like you're worthless ("Geeee, I'll never be as good as that.") As soon as you forget all that, you come up with special stuff that's uniquely yours!!
P.S. I have a specific purpose with what I want to do in programming. I want to write software for audio cards! I don't care what others are doing...I'm going to do this! |
