| Hey Deets,
What do you do, or what are you doing with your new cert? As I am starting out with little or no internetworking experience as you, I'd like to know what I can do from here?
Thanks | |
|
| You could of fooled me Deets I thought you were heavily involved in the field by the responses you gave on here to questions

| To aktribes: Hehe! I wish! If only my potential employers could see posts like this...hmmm...that's got me thinking! I'm actually unemployed! I don't care, where there's a will, there's a way. Pity it's close to the end of the year...employers are a bit more hesitant to take on new blood.
To nethere_d: My plan is to work my way to internetworking expertise over some years. (Two to three...however long it takes). Along the way I'd like to get my CCIE, but I think that's subsidiary. I saw Cisco's office in Melbourne the other day (one of the guys there is going to give me a guided tour - I rang up and badgered them to at least let me have a look at a router, if not a play). The office ROCKS! Man, do I want to get my hands on that technology! Really, nethere_d, I can't tell you much, apart from: if you've got a passion then stick to it, apply yourself hard, and rewards will come to you. Getting the CCNA for me is a real confidence boost, and a reward in itself.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Deets
P.S. My current focus is to find work, and to install Linux on one of my computers. I actually think finding work will be easier!! Man, if I had a dime for the number of times a Linux install has crashed on me...been through Suse, Open, Redhat and Turbo Linux. So much for stability!!!

| Deets,
If you wanna play with a router I have a 2501 at home, but Alaska is a few hours away Linux??? I've been running Linux servers at home and work. I've got over 100 days uptime on a couple. The only crashes I've ever had were my fault I use Redhat and Slackware. Let me know what kinda problems your having. I am not a Linux guru, but I know where to find the answers

| Deets,
I just want to say that I admire you greatly. While everyone is special in their own way, some people really stand out.
I wish you all the very best.
Warm regards,

| To aktribes: I think I might have figured out what the prob is - I think that disabling Plug and Play in BIOS might be the solution: fingers crossed!!!
To Skip: Hey, likewise!! With your constant support and effort in this forum, dudes like me stand a chance of passing the CCNA exam. I have saved some of your excellent diagrams and information (on the great "switch modes" debate and one on terminators and contention networks. I hope you'll let me use them on my Website (of course, all credit to you). If anyone stands out it's you, Skip!
Cheers,

Thanks Deets. You're welcome to use anything I've posted here on your website. I think you've put together a great resource for folks who want to get their CCNA and don't know where to begin.
Best of luck, Deets!

| Deets,
Are you also spending time on the CCNP forum, or do you pretty much stick to your old stomping grounds?

| Hi David,
I have spent more time here since passing CCNA, mainly helping out and consolidating on what I know. But I do intend to move on to CCNP at some point, so I will most likely be visiting that forum more often than I do now. Still, I'll be hanging around here and helping where I can.
Cheers,
Deets |
