Configuration modes

| I'm in the middle of the netacad semester II course, and we're taking the different configuration modes (user, privileged, global, router, and interface). All I can find in Lammle's book are short references to it when he talks about the CLI prompts. I understand the basics of what the different modes do, but this seems to be a minor topic. Are the global, router and interface modes delt with much elsewhere, or is this something that I should just be familiar with?
Tks

| Knowing these modes is absolutely fundamental to knowing how to operate both switches and routers. It's also necessary exam material.

| My old study notes have all the info you need. Go to http://www.routerzone.com and click on the CCNA link.
I'm really suprised these modes are not discussed in your book.
Cheers

| Hi;
Thanks for the reply guys. I went to routerzone and pulled down the info. Good site. Hopefully I just missed the info on the different config modes, especially if they're this important. The info must be buried in other items.
BTW, if anyone is taking the netacad course, we've found that the Cisco book that is required for first year is all but useless. The information in the book is very scant, and the course tests directly off of the on-line material.
Tks
