The wire running from the demarc to the central office is called the

wire loop
trunk
POTS
local loop


anyone here, who can help me?
I've no idea, where to search for an explaination...

That's your local loop. It's also known as the "last mile."

do you possibly know the means of POTS too?

From memory, I think it means "Pretty Old Telephone System."

Can't remember where I saw that...

Found it on the Cisco Web site. Means "Plain Old Telephone System," so I was close.

now the bulb is on
local loop = last mile
pots = pstn (public switched telephone network)
